Sharpening Iron to Live Second

Welcome to my Blog

Hi, my name is Charles, and I am a writer (and so much more) That sentence used to be so difficult for me to own much less say aloud.

Welcome to my blog, as your humble host, I will provide faith guided leadership for both men and women. My mission is to “Sharpen Iron by Living Second”. As a result, I write about leadership, faith and At times my writings will be directed specifically for men using the Biblical concept of “Iron Sharpens Iron” from Proverbs 24:17. At other occasions, my writings will stray from these topics to things like book and music reviews or other topics of interest.

Over the years, I have found many people want to be leaders but don’t know how. In sharing my life experiences, I hope to provide just a little insight on how to do things likely differently than I did the first time around.

This blog is a culmination of being an IT geek, a husband, a volunteer and a follower of Christ. I like many others have stumbled along my way so that others may learn.

All the writing on SecondIron’s Blog is done by myself or one of my guest bloggers without any compensation unless noted.

You can follow along by RSS, updates in your inbox, or just by checking in here at the site every day.

What you will Find Here

As a man who lives my life by living second, I focus my life by leading others with a servant’s heart. By placing God first, then my beautiful wife and finally the needs of others before my own. I write about leadership, unashamed faith as well as local events, music and book reviews.

I started this blog in late 2013, with the desire to share my stories to help possibly others. I have enjoyed writing as long as I can remember and hope you enjoy it too.

As a blogger, it is always good to find tools that have worked for others and duplicate the process rather than recreate the wheel. On the resources page, you will find the tools I use as well as direct access to their creators.

Who is this guy Charles anyway?

Charles Johnston About MeBorn in Gainesville, Fl. I spent the first years of my life in foster care until moving to Jacksonville, FL when I was adopted at age 4.

In college (the first time around) I went to school in Belmont, NC and wasted a couple of years learning how to grow up. I dropped out of college (like many do) and went to work at my dad’s adamant encouragement if you get my drift. After many years of trials and tribulations, (twenty years or so later in fact) I returned to school and finished my BAS in Information Technology Management.

Currently, I still live in Jacksonville, with my wife Crystal and our two dogs Sable and Goldie and our cat Mr. Bojangles. I work full-time in the IT field as well as provide website development and content writing services.

I am a follower of One, a husband, father to furkids, mentor, a serial entrepreneur looking to leave this world a little better than I found it.  My blog is based upon years of experience, both my own and that of many others that have either crossed my path or somehow impacted me on my journey.
