Sharpening Iron to Live Second

Christmas is Love in Action

Christmas is love in actionAnother Christmas is upon us. We have scurried about getting those last-minute gifts.

We anxiously await those presents to be opened.
Through it all, the crowds and the traffic, we made it so Christmas would be perfect.

Guess what… it won’t be.. we are all a mess. This day is not about the gifts all wrapped with pretty red and green bows.

The perfect Christmas happened over two thousand years ago. Ever since we have been missing its purpose. God gave us His ONLY Son to save our souls. Yet every year as we celebrate His birth we sell the very souls he came to save.

We spend money on things we don’t need and for what… to be the star of the show? Lavish gifts that sparkle and shine, we buy the latest fad just to be cool. Spending money, time and anxiety to find that perfect gift. Only to have it opened in seconds, a few oohs an awes and then set aside.

This is not what Christmas is all about. We should take this time to seek forgiveness and healing. While others share the store-bought glitter, why not share from the heart what matters.

Many families will be celebrating this day.. celebrating alone and lonely with regret and pain. That family member or friend that you have not talked to in a while. Why not call them on Christmas, a little sign you care. The gifts you receive this year that replace the things old in your closets. How about sharing those things with the people living without.

Towards years end we tend to be a little reminiscent .. thinking back on the days gone by. Have you held onto pain a hurt that you have yet to let go? Give it away …it is the best present you can give. Forgiveness is the best gift you can give someone and yourself.

Focusing on the love like Christ has given to you, this will renew your heart better than any fruit cake or sweater.
Spend some time this Christmas Day, reflecting on God’s blessing for you, your family and friends.

As you exchange gifts, exchange a heartfelt hug along with it. Christmas is the season to celebrate LOVE, the love of your Father above. God humbled Himself and gave His only Son on this day. Christmas is LOVE in action. Give people the best gift that you will never find online or on a shelf, give them the gift of LOVE and Yourself.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

From my family to yours, Have a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!
