Story of Hope with Darren Mulligan of We Are Messengers

Just over a month ago, World Records recording artist We Are Messengers released their debut album. After a recent whirlwind tour with WinterJam, the timing could not be better. I had the opportunity to chat with frontman, lead singer Darren Mulligan shortly after a recent show he performed in my town. Personally, I have been listening to We Are Messengers new album since picking up a copy at WinterJam when the tour came through in January. I have been a fan of their music since being first introduced to them last August when they opened up for Chris August. That was the first time I had spoken with Darren briefly and knew if the opportunity arose I wanted to have him on my site to share his heart. Charles (C): So Darren, tell me a little bit about the WinterJam tour, how was the experience for you guys? Darren (D): It was fantastic, it really was, it was like family. I remember the last day was like the last day of high school or something. Grown men were hugging each other.  It was wonderful being able to reach out to literally a million people over a three-month period. I definitely think we need to get back to doing our own shows. You have more time and freedom to move really where God is guiding you and challenge people when they need challenging. To stay and be with people. C: I may be a little ahead on this as I am already looking forward to your […]

Why Launch Out Is More About Community Than Anything

In my last post, I talked about the 5 Reasons Why You Should go to Conferences and the ways attending can improve your life. Little did I know that the most unconference conference, Launch Out, would be much more about community than a conference. This past weekend we traveled to Atlanta GA to attend our second Launch Out conference. Having attended last year’s Launch Out in Nashville, I thought I knew what to expect. I went into the conference knowing there would be hugs, great stories from some incredible speakers and even possibly some tears. Knowing all that still did not prepare me for the community that awaited. Unlike most conferences, including last year’s, this time, I felt I knew many of the attendees. Rather than hiding wanting to curl up in the fetal position I decided to embrace the crazy. Instead of going as an attendee to absorb everyone else’s dreams. This time, I had applied to be a speaker. Why not join the Dreamers and share my thoughts right? After some discussion with the organizers, they felt a panel would best fit my topic of interest. Initially, I was a bit put off. I applied to speak! Not share the spotlight with others, I thought. Powers greater than me and a message bigger than anything I could prepare was in the works if I would just listen. I don’t care why you go, just meet me on the mountain. Click To Tweet After sharing and hearing from many other great speakers, it was […]

Angels Do Walk Among Us, This I Have Seen

Ever hear that voice in your ear that tells you to “slow down?” What about the one that whispers “not now?” Or the one where words come out of your mouth but you don’t know where they came from, yet they were beautifully perfect at that moment? It is in these moments that I believe angels do walk among us.   Many would like to believe that when our loved ones leave us that they look down on us from heaven. Holding onto the memories of their earthly bodies, as they dance in the ethereal clouds with our Lord. I ask, do they only look down or are they still with you in spirit? Miracles happen each and every day if only we slow down enough to pay attention. Click To Tweet When Jesus ascended to heaven, he promised the Holy Spirit would return in his place. A spirit that would guide us as we spread the gospel throughout the world. How can this Holy Spirit spread amongst all of us, to each end of the earth? What if the Holy Spirit came down and touched each of us through our baptism and stayed with us. The Holy Spirit transformed and transfigured into the angels of our loved ones. When you speak the words, your mother used to say or do something only your grandfather could have done. Perhaps it’s the simple smile of a baby reflecting the eyes of one you lost too soon. Or a moment that feels familiar, and safe as if […]
