Defending the Feminine Heart (Book Review)

Admittedly, I read a lot of books. I read usually about one book a week give or take. However, rarely am I compelled to write about what I read. Especially on my own volition, without sponsors or a promotion of some sort. That is until today… Defending the Feminine Heart, A Masculine Wall for GOD’s Daughters by Jeff Voth is available on Amazon. I had the opportunity to purchase a copy at Cavetime last weekend. That being said, I wanted to share some thoughts and offer up a challenge. Men today have come under attack. Our masculinity is at stake and truth be told…it’s our fault. We have allowed modern culture to dictate how we are to behave. Our sinful nature going unchecked has permitted lust, pornography, and sex trafficking to become rampant. Meanwhile, we complacently sit on our backsides. Allowing it to happen or worse endorsing it with our own bad behavior. Jeff pulls no punches in his new book. He rightfully calls us knuckleheads out. But not only does he shine the light on the darkness, but he shows us the way. Providing a step by step process in becoming a wall for God’s daughters. Calling out the enemy and learning how to protect all women, as God intended. We are all knuckleheads and have been since Adam. Jeff shows us that through pursuing the second Adam, Jesus we don’t have to be. It is the time that we stand up against the enemy. Time to reclaim, rebuild the wall that God intended to […]

Chasing Lions and Other 500 Lb Dreams

Are you a dreamer,  I hope you are or you are missing out on much of God’s glory. Throughout the Bible there are dreamers. Some prophesied over the lives of others while others made their own dreams a reality. When is the last time you chased down your BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) like it was a 500 Lb lion? Perhaps your dreams are more like cute lion cubs than ferocious lions. If that is the case your dream is not big enough. God-sized dreams are what our lives are made to chase after. Chase them deep into the cold pits, until we conquer them. Lion Chasers don’t run away from what they’re afraid of, they run to the roar. @markbatterson Click To Tweet In order for God to work through us and make our dreams a reality, we need to show up and show off. Talking about a dream but taking no action is just hot air, the Internet is full of that these days. Unless your dream scares you and is a God-sized dream, then it is just a wish, not a dream. I have been a fan of Mark Batterson since I read the Circle Maker a year or so ago. In fact, I just wrapped up my second round of his forty-day devotional  online of his book Draw the Circle: The 40 Day Prayer Challenge. I have also read If, and am waiting on Wild Goose Chase.  I preparing to read All In. Chase the Lion: If Your Dream Doesn’t Scare You, It’s […]

What it means to have All Authority.

People that read the bible, whether daily or just occasionally start to become familiar with certain verses. Verses shared from the pulpit as well as your Instagram feed. These verses detail of Jesus’ and his reign over the earth. Ever want a better understanding of the power behind the verses? Joey Shaw is the international field office director at Austin Stone Community Church in Texas. In his recently released book, All Authority he takes the reader on a journey. A journey that explores scripture in ways only someone living in servitude to God could lead us on. Does Jesus have all authority? Not a typical question to ask perhaps, but does he? Sure we know he is the King of kings, the Christ, our Savior, but under what authority? These are the types of questions we must ask ourselves if we want a true understanding of our relationship with Jesus. This is a strength is not an iron fist beat you over the head kind of way. But yet, an authority that holds himself above all through his undying love for each one of us. Everybody who follows Jesus will encounter a myriad of “authorities” that directly challenge the authority of Christ. These other “authorities” may be parents, teachers, bosses, presidents, institutions, religions, or ideologies. In order to stay firm in devotion to Jesus, we must believe that He has supreme authority over all. Not partial authority, not most authority—all authority. Jesus commissioned his people to go and make disciples of the world. This commission is still as relevant […]
