Unbroken: Path to Redemption (Review and Giveaway)

Everyone knows the movie Unbroken about Louis Zamperini’s that came out in based on the book by Laura Hillenbrand. If you only saw the movie, you may not know is there is more to his story, Unbroken: Path to Redemption is a look at what happened next.

On September 14th, UNBROKEN: PATH TO REDEMPTION by Pure Flix films hits the big screen. I was blessed with the opportunity to not only watch the movie early but also give away Fandango movie Unbroken Called According to His Purposepasses for some of my readers to get to see it for free between now and Oct 14th or until UNBROKEN: PATH TO REDEMPTION is no longer in theaters whichever happens first.

Honestly, I was not sure what to expect from a follow up film to one that was so epic in the lives it impacted as Unbroken. I will say (without giving too much away), that this film can stand on it’s own merits. Even for those that somehow missed the first film, they will be able to dive right into where the film picks up. By the end of the film will likely want to see the first one if they had not yet. Those that saw the first installment of Unbroken, know that this is a different chapter in Louis’ life that might catch some by surprise. The battles and demons that he fought as a POW carried over to when he is home. During his time of fame and what should have been the best years of his life, he is still haunted.

The millions who read Laura Hillenbrand’s best-selling book or saw the first film, UNBROKEN, know and love this part of Louie’s story, Executive Producer Bill Reeves, president of The WTA Group, said. “For Zamperini fans, UNBROKEN: PATH TO REDEMPTION shares the next chapter of Louie’s astonishing life and the inspirational love story that lies within.

Unbroken: Path to Redemption IN THEATERS

SYNOPSIS:

After surviving a plane crash, weeks of floating on a makeshift raft in the Pacific, and then years of torture as a prisoner of war, Louis Zamperini finally returns home to California, seemingly unbroken.

When the war ended, his battle began.

Based on Laura Hillenbrand’s bestselling book, UNBROKEN: PATH TO REDEMPTION begins where the hit movie Unbroken concludes, continuing the unbelievable true story of Olympian Unbroken One of the Greatest Stories of Forgivenessand World War II hero Louis Zamperini.

Haunted by nightmares of his torment, Louie sees himself as anything but a hero. Despite battling demons, anger, and alcohol, Louie feels obligated to participate in an Army tour to raise money for War Bonds. But as he focuses more on hotel bars than his public appearances, Louie is ordered to take R&R on the beaches of Miami.

There, he meets Cynthia, a young woman who captures his eye—and his heart. After a whirlwind courtship, the couple weds and moves to Los Angeles.

While pursuing every avenue of hope he can find—from trying to reestablish himself as a world-class runner to get-rich-quick investment opportunities—Louie’s wrathful quest for revenge drives him deeper into despair … and the bottle.

Hopeless and on the brink of divorce, Cynthia experiences Billy Graham’s 1949 Los Angeles Crusade where she finds faith in God and a renewed commitment to her marriage and her husband. Now, her most fervent prayer is for God to help Louie find the peace and forgiveness he so desperately needs.

From the producer of Unbroken and the writer of A River Runs Through It, UNBROKEN: PATH TO REDEMPTION stars Samuel Hunt (Louis), Merritt Patterson (Cynthia), David Sakurai (Watanabe, ͞The Bird͟), and Will Graham as his grandfather, Billy Graham.

In theaters this fall, UNBROKEN: PATH TO REDEMPTION brings to life the rest of Louis Zamperini’s powerful real-life story of forgiveness, redemption, and amazing grace.
