When Do You Finally Tell Your Story?

Everywhere you look lately, you read or hear about people telling their story. The question is when do you finally tell your story? Whether it is a story of success, recovery, or disastrous brokenness. Everyone has one to share. Until recently even I hid behind the pages of my story. Burying the pain, awkwardness and sin behind the curtains so that no one could see. It was not that I was any better or any different from anyone else. My story was my story, or so that is what I had been conditioned to believe. It was not until I was able to face my past head on that I could finally breathe, at last, give my story to Him to read.   Although He was the author all along, scripting my every step. I spent most of my life trying to edit the ink with a pencil and eraser. Not until on bended brokenness, was I was able to kneel down amidst my filth and give Him credit. It was not until I faced my mortality in a third world country, years later that I finally was able to give Him the glory, and truly humble myself into serving others. For years, I occupied a pew in one church or another. I went through the motions year in and year out. Attending mass because I felt it was the only way I could make it through the week. It became more of an obligation than a source of repentance. I felt unforgiveness within the […]

Does Your Church Make You Uncomfortable?

Ever wonder if you spend too much time at church? Before I have pastors and priests clamoring to silence me let me explain the question a bit. Many people myself included feel that going to church means the obligatory Sunday mass and maybe a Wednesday night all depending. There is nothing wrong with this model and many parishes spend a great deal of money to make you comfortable when you attend.  Instead of  church being held where people may gather. We build great buildings, shrines which invite people to come inside however, is that where we are called to be? Comfortable pews, great worship music,  a dynamic preacher and likely air conditioning of some sort sounds like church right? Is this is a place that will get you to be uncomfortable while providing coffee and donuts?  Probably not. Are you excited to go serve your community when you leave church or to get home and watch the game? Click To Tweet Imagine attending church outside on a mountain top. Maybe in a field with hundreds of your best friends. Perhaps church is on the beach at daybreak as you baptize one another in the vast ocean. Does not really sound like the church you know does it? Where two or more are gathered as long as they are comfortable, not sure that’s how I read it. I don’t believe Jesus asked John to meet him six weeks from now after we meet with the high priest so you can then pour a little water on […]

One Word for New Year

Personally I have been a fan of Jon Gordon for years. He has created a library of life changing books that are a part of my collection. Being that he is also a local author, most are personally signed as well. One such book was Jon’s collaboration project called ‘One Word‘. As a fan and avid reader, I have bought Jon’s books as soon as they hit the shelf, for myself and as gifts.  I bought a copy, gave it to my wife and thought no more about it. Several weeks later, my wife asked what my ‘one word’ was? I was clueless as I had not read the book. She gave me the book back and encouraged me to read it. Many months later, towards the end of 2014, One Word came around again. This time is a Facebook group that I belong to. One of the members offered to create artwork for those that had their word chosen. This was easy for me as I already had my One Word  prepared for the New Year. 2014 as a whole has been a bit of a blur for me. I started my blog, writing for it a couple of times a week. I also began a side project and blog that can be found at Jerzy2Sainthood.com. Meanwhile working and going to school full-time, and focusing on my marriage. During these busy times there was one word that kept appearing. One Word that I feel has been written on my heart to share during this next year. […]
